Families rarely arrive at Fields of Dreams because things are going well.
They come after long, painful journeys through a system that has not nurtured their child in the way they needed. Many parents reach us carrying exhaustion, fear, and heartbreak. Worn down by years of advocating, explaining, and fighting for understanding. They arrive after watching their child struggle to grow in environments that were simply the wrong fit.
By the time families step through our gates, many feel depleted. Running on love alone unsure how much longer they can keep going.
At Fields of Dreams, we understand that place and we meet families exactly where they are.
When the Soil Is Wrong, Growth Becomes a Struggle
Just as no seed can thrive in soil that does not meet its needs, many children with SEND struggle in settings that are not designed for them.
Classrooms can be loud, fast-paced, and unpredictable. Expectations can be rigid. Support can be inconsistent or delayed. For children with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, communication difficulties, or emotional regulation needs, this environment can feel overwhelming and unsafe.
Their distress often shows itself through behaviour meltdowns, shutdowns, withdrawal, or refusal. Yet these are too often treated as problems to be corrected, rather than signals to be understood.
Parents tell us they feel like they are shouting into the wind, trying to explain what their child needs while watching them wilt under pressure.
At Fields of Dreams, we know children are not failing. They are surviving.

Listening to Parents Who Know Their Child Best
Parents come to us because they feel unheard.
They come because they recognise their child’s struggles long before they become visible to others. They know their child’s triggers, fears, and rhythms. They see the early signs of burnout, anxiety, and distress and they act because they are scared of what will happen if nothing changes.
Too often, parents are told their concerns are exaggerated, that their child will “grow out of it”, or that support must wait until crisis point. This leaves families feeling isolated, doubting themselves, and emotionally drained.
At Fields of Dreams, we believe parents.
We trust their lived experience and listen without judgement. We understand that behind every parent asking for help is a child who is trying incredibly hard just to cope.
Seeing the Whole Child — Root, Stem, and Bloom
Children with SEND carry invisible loads.
Sensory overload, anxiety, communication challenges, emotional dysregulation, and sometimes trauma can intertwine, leaving children in a constant state of alert. Learning cannot take root when a child does not feel safe.
At Fields of Dreams, part of the Buckinghamshire Local Authority SEND provision, we focus on the whole child not just what is seen on the surface. We consider emotional wellbeing, sensory needs, communication, regulation, and self-esteem alongside learning.
We understand that:
- Behaviour is communication
- Regulation must come before education
- Safety must come before progress
Only when children feel secure can they begin to settle, trust, and grow.
A Farm-Based Environment That Allows Children to Slow Down
The natural environment plays a powerful role in our approach.
The rhythms of the farm offer predictability, calm, and space something many children with SEND desperately need. The open air, animals, routines, and connection to nature help reduce anxiety and support emotional regulation.
On the farm, children are not rushed. Growth is not forced. Each child is allowed to move at their own pace, learning through experience, connection, and care.
Here, children can breathe.

How Fields of Dreams Nurtures Children and Families
Thoughtful, Child-Centred Assessments
Our assessments are gentle, respectful, and designed to understand the child beneath the behaviours. We look beyond labels, identifying the barriers that prevent children from thriving and the strengths that can support their growth. For many families, this process brings long-awaited clarity and validation.
Individualised Support Plans
Every child’s plan is carefully cultivated around who they are their needs, sensitivities, interests, and abilities. These plans support emotional regulation, communication, learning, and confidence, while allowing children the time and space they need to rebuild trust in education.
Supporting Parents Alongside Their Child
We know that SEND does not affect only the child it affects the whole family. Parents are often exhausted, anxious, and carrying years of stress. At Fields of Dreams, families are not expected to manage alone. We walk alongside parents, offering understanding, guidance, and reassurance that they finally have a team who truly sees their child.
A Place to Take Root, Recover, and Grow
Fields of Dreams is a place of safety.
A place where children are not compared, rushed, or misunderstood.
A place where parents are believed and supported.
A place where healing and growth happen gently, in their own time.
With the right environment, the right care, and the right understanding, children can begin to rebuild confidence, rediscover curiosity, and grow in ways that once felt out of reach.
Because when children are given the space to take root they can flourish.
